Intern, Survey Research
SHRM offers a summer internship program that is designed to give students valuable experience in a professional setting while exploring a career with member associations. This internship is for full-time students enrolled in an accredited university.
We are looking for an energetic, curious and motivated individual to provide temporary support to SHRM’s research team as a summer intern. The team contributes to SHRM’s overarching thought leadership mission to advance the HR profession (and professional) by providing evidence-based insights, recommendations, and innovations at the intersection of people and work.
As a summer intern you will be responsible for performing the following duties:
Assist in all SHRM research department activities, specifically those that fall under the survey research category.
Assist in drafting survey instruments on human resource topics.
Assist in drafting survey programming, data collection and data cleaning.
Conduct pertinent statistical analyses as required.
Assist in the preparation of data findings.
Conduct literature reviews on pertinent human resource topics.
Assist in all clerical functions as needed including photocopying, correspondence, and filing and maintaining records.
Working knowledge of statistics and basic research methods and processes.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong data collection and analysis skills.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Excellent team skills.
High attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, and/or R.
Full-time student preferable pursuing a graduate degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology, Organizational Sciences, Statistics, HR, or related field.
Experience working in a team environment.
Experience with coordinating a variety of complex projects and working within program deadlines.
SHRM's Summer Intern program is for actively enrolled students pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD. Recent graduates will not be considered.
Interns are not provided housing or transportation/parking benefits.
Start Date: Wednesday, May 30th, 2018
Salary: $15.00 - $23.00 per hour, dependent upon degree level.

The Research Department is the research arm of the society and conducts primary research on a variety of HR topics including the profession itself. The mission of the research department is to advance the HR profession by providing evidence-based insights, recommendations, and innovations at the intersection of people and work.
