SHRM Intern, Certification in Alexandria, Virginia
SHRM offers a summer internship program that is designed to give students valuable experience in a professional setting while exploring a career with member associations. This internship is for full-time students enrolled in an accredited university.
SHRM’s Certification department is looking for an intern with SQL database experience to help build out a certification database to serve as a backend for analytics tools. We are looking for someone who can work independently, but knows when to stop and ask questions.
Candidates must be available to report for work in a timely manner during standard working hours for the duration of the internship placement, and to dress and comport themselves professionally.
Build out SQL database starting from existing database schema
Input data to database once it is built
Contribute to data validation
Help develop checklists and procedures for database maintenance
Coursework in SQL Programming(SQL), RDBMS Concepts
A history of achievement and aptitude demonstrated by a 3.0 GPA, and/or other recognition such as scholarships, awards, and honor societies
MTA, MCP, OCA or OCP Certification valued, but not required
Current junior, senior or graduate student in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Data Science or similar. Social science students with appropriate experience will be considered.
Course project, internship, and/or work experience building and/or maintaining SQL databases (any flavor)
Python and/or R programming experience valued, but not required
Experience in and/or understanding of social science research valued, but not required
SHRM's Summer Intern program is for actively enrolled students pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD. Recent graduates will not be considered.
Interns are not provided housing or transportation/parking benefits.
Start Date: Wednesday, May 30th, 2018
Salary: $15.00 - $23.00 per hour, dependent upon degree level.
